Connect Equipment: Mildmay, Ontario
Established in 1965 by Ron and Margorie Schmalz, Ron Schmalz Motors was born in a small downtown Mildmay shop. They sold Massey Harris and Massey Ferguson Machinery and Parts.
In 1979 it was decided that the Agricultural business was booming - they sold 11 Massey Ferguson combines that year and they were running out of room in the downtown location. It was time to move to a bigger building on the outskirts of town to be closer to the farmers they serviced. Construction of the existing building was started and the grand opening was held in the early spring of 1981. Morris Schmalz bought the business in 1997 and it continued to thrive until 2002 when it merged with G.E. Equipment in Lucknow. Cross County Equipment was now created. There have been many changes in the farm machinery business over the years, bigger and more technologically advanced equipment are the trend today but the owners and operators have stood strong. You can always find a friendly face behind a desk or the counter.
